AI Search Brief

About

AI Search Brief tracks how search is changing.

We follow a set of established sources across SEO and AI search — including Search Engine Journal, Search Engine Land, Google's own Search Central blog, and independent analysts like iPullRank — and turn each story into a short, structured summary: what happened, why it matters, and how urgent it is.

Every story is rated Critical, Important, Good to Know, or General, so you can tell in seconds whether something needs your attention today or can wait. New stories are added automatically twice daily, and each day's coverage is archived and searchable going back to when we started tracking.

AI Search Brief is built and maintained by a working SEO professional, for other people doing the same job — the goal is a fast, honest read of what's actually changed, without the noise.

How it works

  1. Sources are pulled on a schedule

Twice a day, we read the RSS feeds of a curated source list — Search Engine Journal, Search Engine Land, Google's Search Central blog, and iPullRank. Anything already covered is skipped, so nothing is summarized twice.

  2. Each story is summarized

Claude reads the article and produces a short summary, three to five concrete takeaways, and a plain statement of why it matters to someone doing search work. Where a feed carries only a headline, the full page is fetched first.

  3. Each story is rated

The same pass assigns one of four importance tiers, working top-down from Critical and stopping at the first that fits. Ratings run at temperature zero, so the same article gets the same rating every time.

  4. Save what matters to you

Sign in with Google to bookmark any story and build your own reading list.

Why importance ratings?

Most SEO news is worth knowing but not worth dropping everything for, and a flat chronological feed makes those look identical. The rating is the shortcut: it answers “does this change what I do this week?” before you read the story. Each tier is also the colour of the band down the left edge of its card.

  • Critical

A confirmed, broad-impact platform change. Act today — this affects rankings or visibility across sites, not just one niche.

  • Important

A real change worth knowing about this week: a confirmed product update, or credible data on a ranking or traffic shift.

  • Good to Know

Commentary, analysis, or an unconfirmed report about something that happened. Useful context, nothing to act on.

  • General

Background and reference — listicles, how-tos, roundups, and minor announcements. Read it when you have time.

Critical is deliberately rare. It is reserved for confirmed, platform-level changes with broad impact — an urgent story affecting a single vertical is Important, however hard its deadline.
