How this grades a file
The spec requires almost nothing, and neither do we. An H1 naming the site is, in the spec's own words, “the only required section”. The summary, the sections and the notes after each link are all optional. So only genuine violations are marked red; everything else is a suggestion about a file that is already valid.
Not having one is not a failure. llms.txt is an emerging convention rather than a standard anyone enforces, and no major answer engine is known to require it. If a domain has no file, this tool explains what it is and leaves the decision to you.
A link we cannot verify is not called broken. A 403 is usually bot protection and a timeout is usually a slow host — both are reported as unverified rather than dead, because telling you to fix a working link wastes more of your time than saying we could not tell.
